Expansion of our Broccoli Impossible to Possible Research Platform to Obtain Significant Recovery of Multiple Functions linked to Cerebral Palsy

Our laboratory is elevating its platform to explore and develop novel functional and technical interventions at one of the leading hospitals in the nation, the Rancho Los Amigos Rehabilitation Center. Our new collaborations will strengthen our range in expertise and will maximize our success in attaining more possibilities. So far these possibilities have evolved because of the continuing development of combinations of novel technical and biological strategies that we have recognized and developed. Due to our successes with spinal cord injury, we feel confident in expanding our efforts toward a new set of pathologies because our data to date repeatedly suggest that there are similar underlying dysfunctions mechanistically between SCI and other neurological disorders. Individuals with cerebral palsy represent a large population of subjects that could benefit from neuromodulation to gain higher functional levels and reduce the medical costs typically linked to their impairments. The net impact of the funds donated for further studies using neuromodulation in a small population will be eventually amplified to reach tens of thousands of individuals that have endured their impairments for years.
